I've been using Google Forms a lot lately and am very excited to share how I've been using this tool. I'd love to hear your ideas too... I'm just getting started and still have so much to learn! Just thought you oughta know how much time you can save with this!
This google form is changing the bathroom dynamic in my classroom dramatically. I try to maintain an open door policy for the bathroom... the last thing you want is for a student to have an accident and a parent mad at you about that. Students scan the code with any classroom iPad and type in their names and go as they wish. While I don't limit the number of times they can go, if I find it excessive I will have a word with them about it. Another good thing about this is that if a student reports a mess or any damage in the restroom, I can look and see who the last student was in there. This works well for me since I only have one restroom in my portable.
I added a shortcut to this google form on my iPad home screen. Now I can quickly document interventions at my reading table as they happen. No more digging for each student's individual form! I can click "view responses" and sort by name to create individual intervention logs for each student.
This form is customized a little bit :) I created the header and saved it as a png file then added it on the form. I haven't used it yet, but I am super excited about having parents use it at next year's open house! I'll have iPads available or let them use their own smartphones to scan the QR code and input their students' information. When I click "view responses" I will have an automatically generated spreadsheet of contact information to file at the office, in my sub binder, and in my field trip bag.
Just thought you oughta know how much google forms is helping me save time, paper and energy. If you are already using google forms, I'd love to hear from you. I plan to share more ways to use this amazing tool!
I love your uses for Google forms! It's been such a huge help to me this year. Teachers refer students to me for intervention using it and it is so much better than the old paper referral system. Thanks for the tip about sorting the info. At the end of the year, I'll sort the referrals by grade.
