A Peek at My Week: Penguins and Pitiful Shopping

Well y'all I'm in the middle of a 3 day weekend and I have accomplished just about nothing! We had a big shopping day yesterday, since we live at least an hour and a half away from any shopping it is an all day event... I bought 2 tops and 2 home decor items, pitiful. I can do better, but since Christmas was just a few weeks ago, I had little desire to self indulge in new clothes (these extra winter pounds don't help either.... I think I should go into hibernation!)

Anyway.... would you like to take a quick peek at my week? I've only done this link-up with Mrs. Will's Kindergarten maybe once ever, but thought I would try again. Hope that you find something useful!

We are learning about Penguins this week. Aren't penguins just the coolest birds, literally?!?! I created a powerpoint that can be used through edmodo or on your smartboard to help students engage with the lessons.

The PowerPoint is part of my penguin unit that has a huge variety of activities for learning about penguins.
Informational texts with close reading activities allows students to read and learn about different kinds of penguins. Then students can choose 1 or more penguins to make trading cards on, a fun way to engage students in researching.

These activities are just part of my plans for this week. Click the pictures to get a closer look and clickable links on the pdf download.

My Fluency Boot Camp with Duck Dynasty characters are always enjoyed by my class. The higher level reading with repeated readings helps my students build confidence as well as fluency, vocabulary and increase reading levels dramatically.

These Daily 5 Activities are engaging ways to promote writing, spelling, reading and listening skills. My students love the hands-on activities, I love the element of accountability that these sheets provide.
