I am marking down my October and November Daily 5 units, which are normally $3.00. My students have been engaged in my October Daily 5 every day this month while I meet with reading groups. These sheets hold students accountable for their work while the are on their own.
The read to someone choice is a great way to make new friends. Readers help each other with reading and comprehension activities. This was a fun way to make predictions, then read and summarize, checking to see if predictions were correct.
My students love "Read to Self" they get to take their books to the canopy, small rocking chair or my big rocking chair and get comfy while they read. A gentle reminder that their sheets are due in about 5 minutes gets them busy.
Word Work is a popular choice with a lot of the boys especially. They seem to have a little friendly competition to see who can make the most words with their letter tiles.
They are absolutely loving this work on writing center where they can choose from creative writing, list 10 or narrative topics in an October themed mini-journal. Word banks, topics and work on writing poster are on the wall for inspiring ideas. I loved the "10 Favorite Fall Treats" list that one of the littles wrote today! She was proud to share her favorite candies!
