Did you all survive Halloween??? Teachers sure have a unique experience when it comes to this "holiday!" My town decided to do trick-or-treating a day early, so we didn't get out of this easy. Then many local churches had trunk-or-treating on Wednesday night. Our "Holidays Around the Blog" should bring some cheer to all!
Now that we have all had more than our share of Halloween candy and treats... I'm ready to move on for some healthy eating! Well, my pants are anyway... my body seriously goes into hibernation mode when the cold weather hits and I feel like I have to eat soups, cakes, warm breads, etc in order to survive!
These donuts were a treat... but they are evil!!! I will have to put on a suit of armor to fight this evil that tries to invade my body every winter!
It's hard to see, but deep down I am "that teacher" who also served fruit, yogurt and water at our Halloween party yesterday. I always incorporate fruit served in some festive way. The students always try something new and usually find that they liked it!
Sooo... while I am working on my diet during the most difficult time of year to do so... I am going to teach my students a little about healthy eating also.
These books are a fun way to incorporate healthy eating, vocabulary and comprehension. My Healthy Eating unit is a great way to reinforce what students learn and help them apply it to their own health.
This food journal is a great way for students to track the types of food they eat as they learn. At the end of the journal they will graph the types of food they eat and evaluate what they eat too much of and what they need more of.
Students will learn what vitamins, minerals and protein does for their bodies.
True/False and fill in the blank activities further students understanding and puts some myths to rest. The Venn Diagram compares fiction and nonfiction. Problem and solution are also incorporated into this unit.
We've all enjoyed the Halloween candy, I'm ready for some healthy eating... and a healthy Thanksgiving feast!
