Five for Friday

My first five for Friday post in a while... Doodle Bugs Teaching hosts this fun linky every Friday.

One totally random thing I thought I would share is the recipe I use to whip up a week's worth of smoothies that have helped me to lose 3 pounds over the past 3 weeks. I've had highs and lows but these for lunch are helping me get down a little bit at a time.

I have loved teaching my Fairy Tale Unit to my second graders! After reading each of these books this week, we added to our chart and really developed a good understanding of story elements. Next week, they will be creating their own fairy tales!

We made two timelines this week with my new Timeline Unit... this one we did together, "All About My Day at School." Later they made their own "All About When I Get Home." They loved sharing their routines and tried to tell me they go to bed at 7:00! Haha... I doubt it.

I brought the timelines and sequencing fairy tales together to show them that they already knew a little about timelines... they put events in order and they tell a story.

I just love this writing office from Amy Labrasciano, I let my students make their own for their writing. They have their own personal references for spellings of high frequency words and contractions. One page has picture clues for vowel team spellings and another has rules for capitalizing holidays, names of places, etc.

That's my week in a nutshell... work, work, work! I'll be working all weekend on job #2 and job #3, and a baby shower too. What plans do you have this weekend?

  1. Love how you combined timelines and fairytales! And I just pinned the smoothie image - must remember!
