This is going to be another double duty post... and later this evening I hope to get back on to bring you yet another post! You know it's back to school time when the teacher blogs fall silent! Soooooo... I am linking up with my sweet friend Julie at A First for Everything to share a high and a low from this week and what a week it was! AND I am linking up with Kristen from My Carolina Classroom for my classroom reveal.
First is my High/Low... this little bonfire that my daughter and nephew made really took off! It was fun to sit around and roast marshmallows and make s'mores with my family to end the summer and celebrate my dad's birthday. The secret ingredient for the fire was apparently a pallet!
This bonfire can also be my low... my son is usually in charge of all things pyro! He has been in Charlotte all summer and will continue to be working and going to school there this year. He has an exciting opportunity there, I will share when everything is final BUT I miss him terribly.

Now for some of my classroom reveal... this could also be a high/low. I am proud of some parts of it, and some just didn't turn out as planned! Since I am in a trailer, I have my own bathroom! YAY!!! On Meet the Teacher night I asked parents to write one word that they would wish for their child to "BE" this year. I know I could have printed them and it would have looked better, but this has more meaning for the students and their parents. I had 13 out of my 16 show up and I forgot to ask 1-2 of them for their word apparently! I will be adding to this obviously!
I wish I had taken pics before that sun broke through... ruined the pics! This word wall is made of letters and the "Word Wall" header from my Black on Brights Classroom Essentials pack and I am pretty proud of how it looks. My daughter (assistant on TWDs) added the ribbon for me!
This is my Work on Writing Station. I have paper, pencils and texts on the topic we are studying. I have also added journals, prompts, thematic words and posters from my September Daily 5 Activities unit since I took the pic. With all of those things on the wall, the only way I could figure to make a display in this area was to add a plastic tablecloth that would go over those things!
This shelf is where my math and literacy centers will be kept. Also some of the tubs will be for turning in finished work.
This is my reading corner, the kids are going to love this... I'm surprised it survived Meet the Teacher Night! YIKES... it was scary a few times! Hopefully I will be able to allow 2-3 children use this during Daily 5 time and enforce the rules or else YOU'RE OUTTA THERE!!!
This will be our focus wall, I just did not have time to make anything for it yet! :(
My classroom will soon have a collection of iPads so I hope to use technology much more. This will be the "Listen to Reading" area during Daily 5. I have some suggested and safe websites posted on the board, and will hang rings with cards on them for student log-in info on the necessary websites.
This is also found in my Black on Brights Classroom Essentials pack and can be printed on any colored or printed paper you choose. I kept to traditional colors for this, it helps me quickly know about the child's behavior for the day.
I did not get a big pic of the whole room yet, will try to add that tomorrow if I survive... IT'S D-DAY TOMORROW!!! YIKES... but I have a good group and things should be ok! :)
