Classroom Volunteer Management

Welcome back to our "Back to School Tips and Tools" series of posts from a fabulous group of blogging ladies!

We are featuring free tips and tools every week so be sure to check back weekly all summer long!
This week I will be sharing some tools I have developed through the years of using classroom volunteers.

Classroom volunteers can be a great way to get more accomplished and give your struggling students some extra one-on-one attention. I have them do things like practice sight words, listen to students read and check spelling homework. This is an area in which we are not trained as teachers to deal with, but it can be very beneficial to you and your students. HOWEVER, you must make your expectations known from the start and have very definite times set that you wish to have them in your classroom. I prefer to not have volunteers in my classroom during my planning because it does take away from what I am able to accomplish.

Click here to grab my tools that will help you establish the volunteer schedule, expectations and give you some tools to get things going.

Good luck to you in this venture should you choose to utilize volunteers in your classroom. Be sure you check back weekly for more tips and tools!
