Mine are very simple but I am planning on making a few changes this year. I use the clip chart like most, though I have heard/read lots of debatable opinions on that method recently. So I will be checking out alternatives, but I doubt I will find anything as practical and effective.
I punch cards at the end of the day for students who are on or above "green" and I have them color a behavior calendar that is kept in a sheet protector in their planners. I make notes on red, yellow and orange days for documentation and parent awareness.
I do rewards that are not tangible as I fear we as teachers and parents are falling into traps of giving, giving, giving and our students/children are less and less appreciative. My students seemed to really enjoy and worked hard for "lunch in the classroom" this year so I am definitely keeping that going! It was ALWAYS the chosen reward and I never had to buy anything!
I am considering assigning team/table buckets next year to encourage more community and working together amongst groups. I would probably set up a cup at each table and allow students to "fill" it with marbles or stones for great behavior, completed work, getting to and from restroom in timely manner, etc.
If you have any more ideas on this topic or suggestions to add to what I am considering changing for next year, please share in the comments!
